Brass Rub Block Kit

rub block kit

Brass rub blocks help monitor belt misalignment in bucket elevators and conveyors by detecting heat generated from the friction caused by a misaligned belt rubbing against the brass surface.

A temperature sensor embedded in the brass block measures the heat, and the system triggers an alarm and shutdown once the temperature reaches a trip-point.

Typically, these sensors are installed in pairs on opposite sides of the machine to detect misalignment on both sides. They can be connected directly to a PLC input or, for enhanced safety, integrated with an independent monitoring system such as 4B’s T500 Elite Hotbus™, Watchdog™ Super Elite, or T400N Elite Hotswitch.

Inspection doors are available for easier periodic maintenance and testing of the brass rub block and system.

    ADB bearing sensor tester

    ADB Bearing Sensor Tester

The ADB Sensor Tester has been designed to test 4B adjustable depth bearing (ADB) style temperature sensors in the field. This hand held test unit features an integrated heating block specifically designed to have a 4B ADB sensor directly inserted.

    ADB bearing temperature sensor

    ADB Series Bearing Sensors

The ADB series have been designed to allow the depth of the sensor to be adjustable depending on your application. A number of versions are available with probe lengths of 50, 100, 200 and 300 mm. The sensors screw directly into a bearing housing through a 1/4” BSPT threaded grease zerk.

    New Product
    4b Milli-Temp bearing temperature sensor

    Milli-Temp Series Bearing Temperature Sensor

The Milli-Temp series can be used on any application where bearing temperature monitoring is needed.  The Milli Temp is a loop powered analogue sensor with a 4-20 mA linear output that is scaled across a temperature range for continuous temperature monitoring.

Watchdog Super Elite hazard monitor (WDC4)

    Watchdog™ Super Elite (WDC4)

Combined belt speed (slip), belt alignment, continuous bearing temperature, pulley alignment and plug condition monitor for bucket elevators and conveyors.
    Superseded
T500 Elite Hotbus™ elevator & conveyor monitoring system

    T500 Elite Hotbus™

Monitors up to 256 sensors: temperature, alignment, speed...
T400N Elite - Bearing Temperature Monitoring System

    T400N Elite

Unique low cost alarm/indicator panel for use with any 4B NTC-type temperature sensors. ADB810, WDB70, and WDB810 series sensors are recommended.

What is the difference between the Touchswitch sensor and a rub block?

The Touchswitch is a pressure-sensitive contact switch that triggers an alarm when a misaligned belt makes contact with the sensor with sufficient force.

In contrast, rub blocks are designed to detect the heat produced by friction when the belt rubs against the brass block.

While Touchswitches provide an instant alarm upon contact, brass rub blocks may take longer to activate, as the alarm is only triggered after enough heat has built up from the friction.

    Hazard Monitoring Design Service

Preventative maintenance can help reduce the risk of equipment failure and consequent downtimes. When it comes to monitoring your bucket elevators and belt conveyors, 4B can recommend you the ideal combination of sensors and monitoring systems to suit your requirements and budget.

4B provides an extensive range of their own ATEX / IECEx / CSA approved hazard monitoring systems, misalignment switches and bearing temperature monitors and level controls. We can offer you anything from a replacement sensor to a fully integrated hazard monitoring system which can be operated either as a stand-alone system or connected to your PLC.

And if you do not want to install hazard monitoring sensors on every piece of equipment in your plant straightaway, we can offer you a scalable solution starting with carefully chosen equipment and systems that can be expanded at a later date to encompass other machines in the plant.

We can also offer you an installation service, and we do provide a competent after-sales technical service to help you overcome any technical problems with your monitoring equipment.
